2010 Jackie Robinson Day Auction: Los Angeles Dodgers Team Signed Jersey
The Jackie Robinson Day team-signed #42 jerseys have just arrived at the MLB.com Auction. There are 20 different Jackie Robinson Jerseys up for bidding. These were identical Authentic Majestic garments each signed by members of the individual clubs before the Jackie Robinson Day games on April 15. Proceeds from auction will benefit the Jackie Robinson Foundation.
The Dodgers No. 42 home jersey might have special meaning because, except for modern-style variations, it is just like the one Jackie himself wore on April 15, 1947, when he stepped onto the field and broke Major League Baseball's color barrier. Andre Ethier got a walk-off hit in the 10th inning to lead the Dodgers past Arizona on Jackie Robinson Day, and before that game at Dodger Stadium, he signed this jersey along with Joe Torre, Jonathan Broxton and others.
The auction for the Dodgers #42 jersey will end on May 9, 2010 at 4:00pm PST. The opening bid was $500 and bids can be made in increments of $25. To place a bid, click here.
