Thank You I Don't Know...3rd Base!

I wanted to thank I Don't Know...3rd Base! for the generous package he sent me. Last month he gave away some cards. The best part about the giveaway was that you didn't have to jump through hoops to get something. It was simple. All you had to do was leave a comment. That comment got you an  autograph, relic, manufactured patch or printing plate from one of the 30 MLB teams.

He put the commenter's names into random.org and I ended up with the Dodgers card. It's a 2007 Upper Deck Sweet Spot Classic Signatures Reggie Smith auto #d 68/99.  This is an awesome card. I love the signature on the baseball and the picture of Dodger Stadium in the background.

He also sent me a bunch of other Dodger cards:

Kersh

Matty

He sent a card of both Mike Marshalls. Here's the pitcher Mike Marshall.

Here's the other Mike Marshall, who was a frequent signer at my LCS in Chatsworth when I was younger. I've got to dig those autos up.

Thanks again I Don't Know..3rd Base!

  1. Thanks. I need to find a good way to store it. It seems to be fading already.

  2. Nice!!! I have Reggies Autogrpah from back in the day and he has to have have the nicest handwriting of any autogrpah I have in my collection. It looks like he still signs the same way as he did when he played. Thanks for sharing.

  3. That is a nifty auto.

That last card -- the Marshall Bowman -- those cards bring back memories. I had a slew of those way back when.

    Great pickups.

  4. Bruce - I agree, that may be one of the nicest signatures I've seen.

Dustin - Yeah, They do bring back some memories. The one problem I have is that they're bigger than your standard baseball card.

  5. That Mike Marshall card makes me want to go downstairs and start looking at my cards! Reggie Smith was one of those few Dodgers of the 70s I didn't hate. I liked him actually. The Bowman cards were so simple that I liked them.

  6. BTB - I want to see some of your collection. You should post some of it. Before I won that Reggie Smith card, I was actually shopping for his auto.

Agreed on the Bowman, nice and simple.

  8. Dustin - Yeah, about a quarter inch larger.

  9. I have a couple of the Sweet Spot auto's and they are faded too. Makes you kinda mad when I see that.

  10. BCB - Any idea on how to protect the cards?

  11. I keep them in a hard plastic case and they still get faded. Maybe it's the type of pen they used or maybe with time that's just what happens no matter how well you try to preserve it.
