Tuesday was Kirk Gibson fist pump bobblehead night. I was ten years old when Gibson hit his famous walk-off homerun in Game 1 of the 1988 World Series. It's my favorite all-time sports moment, so I couldn't wait for this bobble.
When I arrived at Dodger Stadium, I had a couple of goals in mind besides getting the bobblehead. I wanted to try and get a couple of autographs, Kirk Gibson's and Takashi Saito's. There were so many people waiting for Gibby, I knew it wasn't gonna happen, and I was right. I hope others had success getting him. I was able to meet Saito though, who was one of my favorite pitchers while in LA. He was nice enough to sign a couple cards for me.
On to the bobblehead. Presented by San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino, the Dodgers gave away Gibson bobbleheads to the first 50,000 fans in attendance. Not only does the head bobble, but so does the arm, moving somewhat like the real Gibson's arm after he hit the famous homerun. I've heard a lot of people make fun of this arm motion, but I actually like the idea. Once again, this is another bobblehead whose details are right on the money.
Up next, Sandy Koufax Bobblead on Tuesday, August 7.
I went with my wife and we ended up with 8 bobbleheads/arms from people who didn't want them. Great bobblehead/arm
ReplyDeleteEight? Wow! i have a buddy who missed out on getting one if you're interested in trading or selling one.

DeleteWow I just read your name, I'm also a Dodger, Clippers, Bruins fan as well. Good to know we root for similar teams.
DeleteAnyway, are you guys still looking for Gibby bobbleheads? I have one available, interested in trades. I also have a few Koufax's also.
Btw, how did you find 8 bobbleheads? That's awesome! Every time I try to look for bobbleheads, I always end up with 0.
Well I wanted to get some for my nephews and a large family from England was sitting behind us and I offered 10 dollars each fir two of them. The people said they didnt want them so they all gave me theirs . I'm not an eBay seller so I traded the extras with my friends and my wife's brother.
DeleteThe Bakersfield Blaze give out funnier bobbles. This one is slightly better made though.
